Acura’s flagship sedan has developed advanced features in its latest 2007 avatar. Some sedan aficionados have already ranked the 2007 RL as better than even a Lexus or a BMW, but that might be a matter of opinion.
The vehicle now comes with supercharged 290-hp V6 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission. It
also has Acura’s Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), which apportions power between the rear wheels to
enhance cornering stability. You get the usual state of the art ABS, traction/antiskid control, and keyless entry and
starting. Clearly this sedan is meant to let you takeoff as fast as you would dare to.
Best thing about the RL is that it takes a new leap into the tech age with its steering-linked xenon headlamps
and a voice-activated navigation system. |

There is also a rear view camera, which acts like eyes on the back of your head. The AcuraLink system provides OnStar assistance, real-time traffic conditions, and vehicle maintenance
data. And if you go in for advanced Technology Package, then your RL will come loaded with features
like run-flat tires, adaptive cruise control, and Acura’s Collision Mitigation Braking System, which
signals about approaching objects. It will even apply the brakes and tighten the front seat belts, if it determines
a collision is unavoidable.
Working in conjunction with XM Satellite Radio, Acura RL's optional real-time traffic monitoring system
uses XM NavTraffic data. An 8-inch screen displays current traffic details, including flow, accidents and freeway
construction. Drivers can then select the least-congested route. You might call this a nifty way to avoid
those annoying traffic snarls! In addition, AcuraLink can relay maintenance and diagnostic information.
Driving an Acura is smooth and the steering is firm and positive. The RL is extra-quiet but not eerily silent.
