What was your first job?
Growing up my parents weren't too fond of me
working - they wanted me to put my education
first. So instead I found myself doing
steady volunteer work at the local hospital
- I volunteered primarily in the pediatric
unit and the administrative office. As
for my first real job - which I still have
to this day - is my pharmacy job. I started
out as an technician and am now a corporate
intern. Moving up - slowly but surely!
What's your favorite movie, book, or
CD?
I have way too many favorites! Some of
my them include Nicholas Sparks' A Walk
to Remember, A Bend in the Road, and Message
in a Bottle. I also enjoy novels by Suzanne
Fisher Staples such as Shabanu: Daughter of
the Wind and Shiva's Fire. And
of course countless romance novels! For movies,
my favorites Bollywood films include Kal Ho
Naa Ho, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mission Kashmir, Asoka,
Lagaan, and last but not least Hum Dil
De Chuke Sanam. As for English movies
- my all time favorite is Dumb and Dumber - it's
a classic.
What type of music gets you
in the mood?
Depends on what mood you are referring
to! I love old school R&B music for getting
in a romantic mood, such as Boyz II Men
and TLC. Some Hindi songs are really
romantic too! Especially those from Hum
Dil De Chuke Sanam, the song Raat Ka
Nasha from Asoka and Tujhe Chand
Chahiye from Supari really make me go,
"Awww!" I'm a sap, and a hopeless
romantic. Now for the partying mood, I
love reggae, soca, chutney, and the latest
Bollywood hits that you can actually
move your hips to!
Who do you look up to in the entertainment
industry?
Aishwarya Rai is my all time favorite. She
is youthful yet mature at the same time, beautiful,
classy (unlike many others in the industry) and
talented in every aspect. I really admire that
she is an independent woman and is willing to take
on taboo and never-before roles. I truly feel
her confidence is her key to success - it's what
sets her apart from the rest.
Do you have any pets?
No
I do not - It's hard to have pets in Minnesota with
the terrible winter and all. I had a goldfish
once long ago - and it lived for 2.5 years!
What's the nicest thing someone has done
for you?
People do nice things for me all
the time - it's hard to narrow down. The most recent thing I
can remember was when I left my purse on
a table at the University. An elderly
woman saw me leave it on the table - so she
picked it up in hopes to catch up with me and return
it. Unfortunately I caught a bus without
realizing this as she was walking towards me. This
woman caught the bus right behind mine and rode
in it for 20 minutes waiting for me to get off. Finally
I did and she returned it to me, and was still very
sweet about it! I thought this was extremely
nice - after all, she could have just let it sit
on the table and let someone else deal with it. What
a sweet lady!
Why did you decide to enter the entertainment
industry?
Well - I haven't quite fully entered yet as I am
just starting - but I feel that it is a fun, uplifting
field in which you get to meet great people. Plus,
you get the opportunity to be spunky and express
your creative side once in a while.
Bollywood or Hollywood?
Both. However, Bollywood acting is too
clichéd, like running around and dancing
in the streets of NYC or hiding behind
trees all intertwined with a love triangle
in which the girl is about the get married.
That I don't like. But Bollywood has put
out some excellent films like Kal Ho Naa
Ho, Water, and Asoka. These are someof my favorites, and if you noticed, they
aren't typical Bollywood films.
Hollywood is great too though, especially
the action films like Spiderman I and II
and Transformers - they have amazing
special effects.
Which Bollywood actor would you like
to share a love scene with?
John Abraham, John Abraham, and John
Abraham!!!! Oh man, talk about a diehard
fan right here. I had a crush on that
man the moment I saw him...no one in
Bollywood has more appeal than him,
plus he is an amazing actor...so I think we
could make it look pretty realistic...wink
wink, nudge nudge.
Do you have any desire to move from modeling
to acting?
I'm not sure. It would be fun for sure though
- and if I were given a shot at that, I would probably
give it a try.
When were you inspired to become a model?
Was your family supportive?
Over the past few years my interest has grown - especially
since I realize that I offer a diverse look to the
fashion scene here in Minnesota. My parents
have been somewhat supportive - they want me
to remain focused on school - which I have been,
so they are fine with it.
Who do you look up to?
My parents. They have worked very hard
to raise my sister and myself here in
America - they have provided me with
everything I've needed. They are what
one would call the ideal parents.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Read romance novels, watch Bollywood films (of course),
and hang out with my family and friends.
What are your turn offs?
Smelly boys! Ewww! But in all honesty,
a conceited person really puts me back. I hate
it when guys are so wrapped into themselves they
forget about you! A bland personality is a
big negative also - I need a creative, energetic
person to keep up with me! And about the smelly
boys? Yes - personal hygiene is a MUST!
What's your fantasy?
To be on a warm, tropical island in the
middle of the Caribbean with the man of
my dreams. My world would be free of
work and exams - and I would get to
sleep in till noon everyday. The trees
would sprout chocolate (that wouldn't
melt in the warm weather) and I would
have a Starbucks Coffee Shop right
there, just for me!
What's the kinkiest thing you've
ever done?
I'm a good girl!
When did you realize that guys
first started noticing you or hitting
on you?
Probably at the time when guys usually
start noticing girls - 14 years or so? Ironically,
I was too busy with my school work to really
notice this.
Are you the kind of girl who feels
flattered when random strangers try to
flirt with you or do you get irritated?
Depends on the tactics. If he is one of
those guys that are like, "Hey
baby...are you tired? Because, dang,
you been runnin through my mind all
day!" Then no, I am not flattered...but
pretty amused that some guys think
that actually works! I don't think I get
irritated unless they get persistent and
are unable to take a hint that I am not
interested. At least try to get to know
me first. If a guy is polite, and gives
me a genuine compliment...then I
may be flattered.
Are you in a relationship? What
do you look for in a partner?
Yes I am - I've been with my boyfriend
for 2 years. I look for someone that
is honest, intelligent, funny, and I have
to find him attractive.
Tell us two things that our readers
would be surprised to know?
I am a big book nerd! I wanted to
have a "reading party" this summer
and my boyfriend and sister made
fun of me non-stop. I am also
quite the klutz, I tend to fall in odd
places. |
