Island Hopping - Pinki Shrivastava
|
|
Alusty sense of life is all about
partaking every joyful experience
that comes your way -
hopping from one island to another
can be as pleasurable as hopping
from one relationship to another.
But the idea of taking lust as a way
of life need not overwhelm you; for
those blessed with positive outlook,
a lusty spirit is the most natural
human emotion. It is a basic instinct
to look for pleasure. That is why we
want to indulge in adventures such
as island hopping. All you need is an
open mind and a group of islands
skirted by picturesque beaches populated
with beautiful women. Along
with that you also need a helicopter,
sea plane, or a boat to enable you to
hop from one island to another. The
world is dotted with hot-spots like
Seychelles, Greece, and the
Maldives. But the mecca for this
kind of pleasure is naturally Hawaii. |
| |
 |
Hawaii Each of Hawaii’s six main islands
offers a unique experience that no
other island can match. The pleasure
trip to Hawaii usually commences
from Oahu, which is where
the action is.
The star attraction at Oahu is the
Waikiki, Hawaii’s most famous
resort playground, and the favorite
haunt to most eye-catching beauties
and legendary playboys. So if you
are blessed with a roving eye and
you are on prowl for a one-night
stand with a typical Hawaiian beauty
then head to Waikiki. Out here
you won’t even have to go out looking
for the vices of a big city, the
vices will come knocking at your
doors. When you have had your fill
of the pleasures that Oahu has to
offer, you can take a hop to Kauai,
which is renowned as Hawaii’s most
romantic island. A place so rich in
raw, unspoiled natural beauty that
it’s a favorite backdrop for
Hollywood’s leading film producers.
Romance and love are only a
heartbeat away when you are lodged
in the vicinity of such breathtaking
natural wonders, including Waimea
Canyon (hailed as the “Grand
Canyon of the Pacific”), Napali Coast
and the island’s lovely North Shore.
Even when you are merely walking
on Kauai's serene beaches you will
feel the breeze of love fanning you
with butterfly wings. From Kauai
you can take a helicopter or a small
plane to The Big Island. Now this is
an island that is really large and to
truly enjoy its beauty you must take
an aerial survey of the place before
putting your feet on terra firma.
Encompassing 4,028 square miles, the Big Island is twice the size of all
other Hawaiian islands combined!
This island offers plenty of room to
roam, and many opportunities to do
so in ways as entertaining as horseback
riding, hiking, biking, fishing
and many others. What other island
is large enough to hold five volcanoes,
including the world’s most
active volcano – Kilauea, whose
most recent eruption occurred in
January 1983. |

When you finish exploring The Big
Island you can take a boat ride to
Maui. A boat ride offers an added
advantage of allowing you a chance
to indulge in some deep-water fishing
on the way. Anyway, Maui offers
the ideal blend of sophistication and
Mother Nature. It’s not as crowded
as Oahu, and more refined than its
other sister islands. The Valley Isle
has distinguished itself, perhaps, for
being able to offer the best of all
worlds. The best thing about Maui is
that it offers something for everyone:
family attractions (Maui Ocean
Center), world-class performing arts
(Maui Arts & Cultural Center), scenic
wonders (Haleakala National
Park), hidden natural gems (the road
to Hana) and for the inveterate playboys
there are the bars dotting the
shoreline where it is easy to bump
into the kind of companion that one
may be on the lookout for.
From Maui you travel to Molokai,
which happens to be the island of
choice when you want to get away
from it all. Here, there are no traffic
lights or neon signs. No building is
taller than a palm tree.
Molokai is
where time has stood still, eschewing
modern trappings in favor of a
slower, laid-back lifestyle. There are
a fair amount of activities that you
can enjoy out here — there’s golf,
camping, hiking and the worldfamous
mule ride down to historic
Kalaupapa, but the island that bills
itself as "Hawaiian by Nature" is
largely appreciated for what it doesn’t
have.
Last but not least is Lanai, which
has transformed itself from an agriculture-
based island to a gorgeous
resort with two world-class championship
golf courses, two distinctive
hotels, pristine beaches and a whole
lot more. Scuba diving, snorkeling,
clay shooting, biking and hiking are
among the other outdoor adventures
available on Lanai. By the time your
whirlwind tour of Hawaii is over you
won’t be able to guess what you
enjoyed most – the experiences on
individual islands or the idea of hopping
from one island to another. |

Maldives Beyond Hawaii, it is the Maldives
that offer some excellent island hopping
opportunity. In fact, island
hopping is said to be the best way to
take a tour across the country and
experience its beauty. You travel
from one island to the other by boat
or helicopter and check out beautiful
beaches, lush green vegetation,
fantastic landscapes and tranquil waters of the sea. It depends on you
whether you want these island hopping
excursions to be in the form of
romantic getaways or adventure
tours. If you are on a romantic vacation
with your beloved, then go for a
cruise around the country. If you are
looking for a more local touch you
can hire small 'dhonis' (locally
designed boats). The rowers of the
dhonis are like the gondolas of
Venice, for a small tip they will sing
a beautiful romantic song that can
really fire up things between you
and your consort. You can go to the
different island resorts and check
out the flora and fauna over there.
Some of the islands offer really
secluded outcroppings into the sea,
which many couples like to use to
simply sit on the beach and share a
quiet moment while seeing the setting
sun. One can also go for numerous
water-based activities like snorkeling,
scuba diving and surfing. |

Greece When it comes to Greece, island
hopping is the quintessential way to
experience this country. There are
more than 60 inhabited postcardperfect
isles bobbing in its crystal
clear waters and thousands more
uninhabited outcrops to explore.
And with myriad possibilities for
travel between them, the simple,
olive oil drenched Greek island
lifestyle opens up for exploration
and adventure in vastly enthralling
ways. The islands vary greatly in
size, architecture, cultural influences
and terrain. There are so
many islands in this area that even
a month’s time might not be enough
to explore all of them. If you can't
leave everything for a month, you
should set aside at least two weeks if
you want to cover any ground. While
exploration of historical ruins is a primary attraction of these islands,
there are many more things you can
indulge in. Snorkeling, scuba diving,
kayaking, windsurfing, mountain
biking, hiking, sun worshipping,
gawking at ancient ruins, eating and
drinking in seaside taverns and
swimming in the turquoise sea are
ideal ways to pass the balmy days
and nights.
Crete happens to be the largest
island in the area. It is the home to
the astonishing Samaria Gorge and
Minoan Palace at Knossos; the
rugged Cyclades islands throw the
ambiance of a natural paradise, it is
the domain of volcanic Santorini and
Mykonos as well as lush and mountainous
Naxos. It is possible to fly to
Greece’s larger islands; you can
often score cheap deals on flights
and it can be an ideal way to start or
finish your island-hopping odyssey.
However, sailing is a far more relaxing
and romantic way to travel. If
money is no object, chartering a
yacht is the way to go. |

Seychelles This sublime Indian Ocean archipelago,
with its 115 jewels of islands, is
tailor-made for an island hopping
excursion. Granitic or coral, each
individual island is truly unique and
presents its own strikingly different
version of paradise. Visitors to
Seychelles are wowed by its unbroken
expanses of powder white
beaches lapped by cerulean waters
and stunning verdant landscapes.
But that’s not all. Some of world’s
best hotels and resorts are based in
Seychelles, so if luxury is what gets
you to a new high, there is much of it that you will find amidst this
group of islands. The Sainte Anne
Resort & Spa lounging just 3 miles
off the east coast of Mahe, ten minutes
by boat, is quite popular with
Hollywood stars, who tend to stay
here when they visit Seychelles. The
resort lies on a private island within
a national marine park. |

Whenever you have a chance you
should give island hopping a try.
There is something really adventurous
in visiting different islands,
each unique in character yet sharing
a relaxed lifestyle cherished by
locals and admired by visitors.
Exploring different islands is an
experience you’ll treasure forever;
you will feel like the ancient
mariners who discovered the world
for all of us. Island hopping is
meant for the eternal optimist, who
revels in the infinite possibilities of
his dreams and actions.
Exploring
different
islands is an
experience
you will
treasure
forever. |
