She
came, she saw, she conquered! That sums up Bipasha’s
tryst with Bollywood. Everyone is head over
heels “Deewana” about her. As the
sultry Sonia in Ajnabee, as the mysterious Sanjana
Dhanraj in Razz, or as the sexolicious Sonia
Khanna in the 2003 blockbuster Jism! She has
never failed in mystifying her audiences with
her charm, with her talent, her vibrancy and
her sheer sex appeal. A string of successful
films have granted her lasting and enduring
success.
er place in the pantheon of Hindi film goddesses
is assured. Who can forget the bubbly Anna in
Barsaat, played superbly by Bipasha? Her performance
as snotty as that of a proficient cheerleader,
breathtaking in the literal sense, she left
a stronger impression than other actors in the
film. But that is a familiar story. The most
memorable thing in any Bipasha film is Bipasha
mostly. Even in relatively small guest appearances
she never fails to make her mark and critics
and audiences alike love to rave about her feat.
Tall by Indian standards this five feet eight
inches high, light-eyed, Kolkata lass entered
the realm of public imagination when she won
the Celebrated Ford Supermodels Contest at the
tender age of 17. She also won the Tulips Miss
Super Vivacious in the same contest. She was
in fact a household name much before she forayed
into Bollywood. Besides doing innumerable prestigious
ads, she did the well-known chartbuster album
‘Tu’ for Sonu Nigam’s “Kismat”.
A little known fact about her is that prior
to becoming a model/actress she wanted to become
a doctor. She says, “ I actually wanted
to be a doctor. But doing all those horrid rat
dissections made me faint. I studied science
till the 12th standard and later took up commerce.
I was planning to do chartered accountancy,
but fate had something else in store for me.”
Well, there is no reason for her to dissect
a few rats when she can dissect many more hearts
(and make people feel good about it).
