Bollywood Beauties Aishwarya Rai

The lady never did lose the crown proclaiming her the most beautiful woman on earth once she won it at the tender age of 21. Now 30, she’s continues to hold the position of the most beautiful woman in the world, and her dusky beauty enchants and enthralls millions of fans in every nation around the globe. Helen of Troy may have launched a thousand ships, but Ash’s fans have launched for her 17,000 unofficial websites – that is more than that of any Hollywood actress.

Aishwarya’s is an everlasting and enduring beauty that begs to be worshipped. A beauty that puts her in the league of all time great actresses like Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman or perhaps Elizabeth Taylor! But there is more to Aishwarya then her raw sex symbol image. Unlike some of her Hollywood counterparts, she is very much like the women she portrays: wholesome, dutiful and deeply religious. There are hardly any sex scenes in her movies, not even kissing.

When asked about the inherent modesty of her films she demurely says, “I would assume that is really a reflection of our social norms. In real life people do kiss and have a very healthy love life. This is the land of the Kama-Sutra. But nevertheless, in our society you don’t really see people around the street corner kissing or being extremely, overtly, physically demonstrative publicly. They do it privately but not publicly.” How politically correct of her! But that is Ash for you.

From her first film Iruvar (in Tamil) Ash has certainly gone a long way. Her performance in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) as Ajay Devgan’s wife who is in love with another man bagged her the coveted Filmfare award. Her haunting performance as a rape victim in Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000) has won her rave reviews. The year 2003 bestowed on her another Filmfare award for her role as Paro in the Bollywood blockbuster Devdas.

While she might not be one of the wealthiest women in India, through her films she has become a very influential figure in the Indian landscape. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people on the planet. When she's seen in new clothes, it invariably sparks a new fashion trend. These days the lady is trying to carve a niche for herself in Hollywood. Her latest English film Bride and Prejudice is having critics everywhere raving with delight.

So will our Ash give Julia Roberts a run for her money! Nothing is impossible for this beauty. We will have to wait and watch.
